Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, MP, said the constitution of 1972 is the reflection of the long struggle of 24 years and the main goal of the constitution is to build a society free from exploitation and discrimination.

Dr Shirin Sharmin came up with the comment while speaking as the chief guest at the 50th Constitution Day function organised by the Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee on Thursday.

The Speaker also praised the organisers for choosing a time-befitting title called 'Constitution of 1972, the protector of communal harmony'.

Shahriar Kabir, President of the Ekatturer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, presided over the programme where Rashed Khan Menon, MP, Hasanul Haq Inu, MP, and Aroma Dutta, MP, took part as special guests.

Barrister M. Amir-Ul Islam, Former Supreme Court Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik, Barrister Tureen Afroz, Ramendu Majumdar, among others, also spoke in the programme. Various dignitaries were virtually connected in the event.
