Digital Security Act: Helena Jahangir denied bail

The High court has rejected bail petition of businessperson-turned-politician Helena Jahangir in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.

The HC bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Md Badruzzaman rejected the bail petition filed by Helena on Tuesday afternoon.

Earlier, Helena was granted bail in three cases. However, she was not released on bail as she was not granted bail in the case filed under the Digital Security Act at Gulshan Police Station.

Law enforcers arrested Helena during a raid at her Gulshan residence in the capital on August 3.

During the raid, RAB had seized a huge quantity of liquor, poker equipment, walkie-talkies, foreign currencies, and knives from there.

She was also accused of running illegal IPTV, spreading false information, extortion, and other illegal activities.

Helena is also facing charges in cases filed under the Digital Security Act, Narcotics Control Act, Wildlife Protection Act and the Special Powers Act.
