Bangladesh veteran goalkeeper Ashraful Islam Rana has urged the Bangladeshi fans to support the team in their must-winning match against Nepal of the ongoing SAFF Championship in Male, Maldives.
Bangladesh must beat Nepal to move into the final. The match will take place on October 13 at the National Stadium in Male at 5:00pm (BST).
However, Bangladesh’s win against Nepal will not be enough for their qualification into the final of the tournament. They have to look at the results of today’s two matches -- Nepal vs India at 5:00pm and Maldives vs Sri Lanka at 10:00pm -- at the same venue.
Bangladesh are currently in second place on the points table of the single group round-robin meet with 4 points, two points behind table-topper Nepal and one point ahead of the Maldives.
“I think all teams have equal chances so far. We have to stick them as per plans until the last minute. The team are mentally strong enough. I believe that Yeasin’s absence will not make any impact on our game plan,” he concluded.
Defender Yeasin Arafat, who scored the equaliser against India, will not take part in the last game against Nepal as he is suspended for one match due to conceding two yellow cards. Besides, Rakib Hossain and Bishwanath Ghosh have returned to the squad after a match suspension.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh will resume its practice after a two-day break from today.
