Bangladesh gets war victory for Bangabandhu's leadership: BILIA

Bangladesh achieved victory in the war with strong opponent Pakistani occupation forces due to apt leadership and strategies fixed by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

This was said by Prof Dr Abul Kalam of International Relations of Dhaka University at Lecture on “Strategic Interplays during the Bangladesh Liberation War and its Ramifications for the Present” virtually organised  by Bangladesh Institute of Law and International Affairs (BILIA). It was the 7th lecture organised by BILIA marking the golden jubilee of the country’s independence.

The first Bangladesh government, widely known as the 'Mujibnagar government, was formed on April 17, 1971, he said adding that formation of that government bears testimony to Bangabandhu’s political acumen, strategy and farsightedness.

Prof Dr Mizanur Rahman, director of BILIA, delivered welcome address. Former ambassador and chief information commissioner Muhammad Zamir presided over the programme.

Author of the Proclamation of Independence of Bangladesh Barrister M Amir-ul Islam, noted communist Syed Badrul Ahsan, Dhaka University’s political science Prof Gobinda Chakraborty, Bangladesh Enterprise Institute president ambassador Farooq Sobhan,  ambassador Munshi Faiz Ahmad, ambassador Shahed Akhtar, Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Tania Amir, security analyst Air Cdre (Retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury and joint secretary of law ministry Kazi Arifuzzaman were present, among others.
