RT-PCR testing facility for detecting coronavirus for outbound air passengers would be available from Saturday at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque made the announcement after inspecting the latest situation of setting up testing labs at the HSIA on Thursday.
“Several machines have already arrived. All the concerned officials of the health sector are working tirelessly for this. If everything goes well, samples of outbound passengers will be tested in the RT-PCR labs at airport and they can go abroad without facing any hassle by next Saturday,” the health minister added.
Asked about the number of PCR labs and the number of people who can be tested in these labs daily, Zahid Maleque said 12 machines would be installed here in a total of six labs. Through these labs, samples of at least 3,500 to 4,000 people would be tested every day.
He also said that both the Rapid PCR Lab for testing at the fastest time and RT PCR Lab for general testing will be operated here.
