South Point School and College (SPSC) students Warsia Khushbu and Mrinmoy Roy clinched gold medals in the Asian School Chess Competition and International Karate (Kata) Contest - 2021 respectively.

The chess competition was held on July 23 and the karate competition was held from June 18 to 20. Both the competitions were held online due to the Covid-19 situation.

Warsia emerged unbeaten champions after securing all eight points in the chess competition. A total of 361 girls from Asia took part in the girls’ category.

Meanwhile, Anjuman Haque bagged a silver medal while Deep Roy and Munjerin Rahman earned a bronze medal each during the Karate contest.

Several hundred players from different countries along with 40 contestants of Bangladesh participated in the contest.

SPSC’s sports coordinator Saukat Siddique acted as the team manager while Deen Islam from Bangladesh Karate Federation executed the assignment as a coach.
