Dhaka-bound vehicles diverted to opposite direction at Daudkandi

As lockdown was imposed in seven districts, Dhaka-bound transports from Chattogram were intercepted at Daudkandi point of Cumilla and diverted to opposite direction on Wednesday.

The incident caused immense suffering to the passengers, including women and children.

Daudkandi highway police have prevented passenger transports from coming to Dhaka. For lack of vehicles, many short distance passengers were seen walking.

Zohirul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Daudkandi Highway Police, said a check-post has been set up so that public transports cannot enter Dhaka from Munshiganj and Narayanganj.

To contain the spread of coronavirus, government imposed lockdown in seven districts namely Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Gazipur, Manikganj, Madaripur, Rajbari and Gopalganj on Tuesday (June 22) for a period till June 30. The government also snapped communications among Dhaka and seven districts to check any further deterioration in Covid situation in the capital.
