Archer Prodipta loses in quarterfinals in Asia Cup archery

Bangladesh archer Prodipta Chakma got eliminated from the Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament stage-one after losing his recurve men's single event quarterfinal match in Gwangju, South Korea on Thursday.

The 15-year-old Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan archer conceded 6-2 setpoints defeat to his Japanese opponent Furukawa Takaharu but he earlier beat Malaysia's Mohamad Khairul Anuar by 6-4 setpoints to win his pre-quarterfinal match.

Khairul Anuar has already qualified for the Tokyo Olympics and he defeated Bangladesh premier archer Ruman Shana by 7-3 set points in the semi-final of the World Archery Championships in Netherlands in 2019.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh recurve mixed team of Prodipta and Rajoni Akter lost to Japanese pair of Hayakawa Ren and Furukawa Takaharu in the semifinals by 0-6 setpoints.

Bangladesh compound men's team and compound mixed team are scheduled to play the finals against Korean teams on Friday.
