Maritime ports asked to lower signal

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to lower signal as squally weather is unlikely over North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of the country.

“The depression over Jharkhand and adjoining area moved northwards further, weakened into a well marked low over Biher and adjoining East Uttar Pradesh at 6 am today. It is likely to move northwards further and weaken gradually and become unimportant,” said a met office weather bulletin this morning.

Squally weather is unlikely over North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, it added.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain in shelter till further notice.

Earlier, on Thursday, Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra were advised to hoist local cautionary signal number three due to the cyclonic storm “Yaas”.
