The residential halls of Dhaka University (DU) will not open on May 17 as vaccination of students are not ensured yet in the wake of coronavirus situation.
The decision came from an emergency meeting of the provost committee presided over by DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman on Thursday afternoon.Meeting sources informed that the residential halls of DU are not being opened on May 17 as per the previous decision of the Education Ministry. The reason is that all the students are not yet vaccinated. The university administration wants to allow students in halls after completion of two doses of vaccines.
Regarding the meeting, Vice-Chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman told newsmen that it would not be possible to allow the students on May 17 if the overall pandemic situation does not improve before completion of vaccination process.
