Hefazat leader Mufti Sharif Ullah remanded

A Dhaka court o Wednesday placed assistant publicity secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam Mufti Sharif Ullah on a one-day remand a case filed under the Special Powers Act with the Jatrabari Police Station on May 6 2013.

Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate court passed the order after police produced him before it with a 7-day remand prayer.

Earlier on Tuesday, police arrested Mufti Sharif Ullah from the capital's Mir Hajirbagh area.

On 5 May of 2013, thousands of Hefazat activists thronged to the Dhaka thoroughfares and held a demonstration at the Shapla Chattar of Motijheel.

At different spots, they clashed with the members of law enforcement agencies and carried out extensive vandalism across the city.
