Country's celebrated film actress and model Apu Biswas is set to become an executive committee member of Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation as she submitted her nomination as a candidate for the upcoming elections.
BKF joint secretary and Additional DIG Gazi Mozammel Hoque confirmed this to The Daily Sun on Tuesday.
“Actress Apu Biswas has submitted her nomination as a candidate for the federation's executive committee member,” Mozammel said.
A total of 24 candidates submitted their nomination forms till the last day for a 24-member committee and all the candidates are expected to be elected unopposed.
Apu earlier became one of 108 councillors of the federation. She became a councillor in the National Sports Council quota, NSC Law Officer SM Kabirul Hasan confirmed.
“She (Apu Biswas) became the Kabaddi councillor in the National Sports Council quota. BKF recommended her name. They may want to make her ambassador of the sport,” Kabirul said.
The BKF poll is scheduled on March 24 but they may get the full committee on March 21 as their Election Commission is set to declare the committee after only 24 candidates submitted their candidatures.
The Director General of Rapid Action Battalion Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has already been appointed as the new president of the Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation.
