An elderly man was killed and 20 others were injured in a clash between two rival groups at Nimbari village in Kosba upazila of Brahmanbaria on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Hayes Mia, 50, a resident of the village.
Police and locals said there was a longstanding conflict between Sakku group and Mostofa group over establishing supremacy in the area.As a sequel to the conflict, the men of the two rivals attacked each other with lethal weapons at 6:30am, leaving Hayes dead on the spot and 20 people from both sides injured.
Confirming the news, Alamgir Bhuyan, officer-in-charge of Kosba police station, said the situation in now under control.
