Afghanistan Football Federation confirmed that they would not travel to Bangladesh to play the second-leg match of the Joint Qualification Round for the FIFA World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023 against the hosts.
The second-leg match between Bangladesh and Afghanistan was scheduled to be held on March 25 at the Sylhet District Stadium.BFF was determined to host the match but AFF preferred to play at a centralised venue in Qatar or Oman due to their travel facilities.
“AFF sent a letter Saturday night explaining their stand. The BFF National Teams Committee will sit on a meeting to decide their next step on Monday (today),” Shohag said.
The match is now likely to be held in June in a neutral venue.
