BHF names 32-member squad for Asian Champions Trophy

Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) on Saturday announced a 32-member squad for the upcoming Men's Asian Hockey Champions Trophy. Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) will host the competition as a part of their arrangements for Mujib Borsho.

A total of six teams -- Bangladesh, Japan, India, Korea, Pakistan and Malaysia -- will compete in the sixth edition of the biennial event. The league basis meet will kick-off with the opening match between Japan and India on March 11 at 3:30 pm while Bangladesh will face Malaysia in the day’s second match at 6 pm and Korea will take on Pakistan in the third match at 8:30 pm, all at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium. 

Bangladesh will play their other matches against India, Japan, Korea and Pakistan on Mar 12, 13, 15 and 16 respectively. Top four top teams will play the semi-finals on March 18 before the final will be held on March 19.

Ahead of the competition, BHF has decided to hold a residential camp, scheduled to be started from January 10. The federation told all these 32 selected players to report to team manager Badrul Islam Dipu and coach Mahbub Harun on the day Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium.

The selected players are:  Asim Gope, Abu Sayeed Nippon, Biplob Khujur, Nuruzzaman Nayon, Khorshedur Rahman, Forhad Ahmed Shitul, Ashraful Islam, Sohanur Rahman Sabuj, Mehedi Miraj, Rezaul Karim Babu, Manoj Babu, Shofiul Alam Shishir, Sarwar Morshed Shawon, Khaled Mahmud Rakin, Sarowar Hossain, Roman Sarker, Nayeem Uddin, Fazle Hossain Rabbi, Hasan Jubayer Niloy, Md Abed Uddin, Raji Ahmed Topu, Rasel Mahmud Jimmi, Milon Hossen, Mainul Islam Khoushik, Md Arshad Hossain, Md Mahbub Hossain, Din Islam Emon, Rakibul Hasan, Puskor Khisa Mimo, Rajib Das, Md Mohosin, Debashish Kumar Roy.
