Coronavirus: Global death toll climbs to 987,742


A total of 987,742 people died from coronavirus worldwide  at 11:10am till Friday (05:10 GMT), according to latest data from worldometer.

While 32,416,405 people have tested positive for coronavirus, 23,932,212 are considered recovered in the 213 countries and territories since the virus emerged in China last December.

Apart from this, the number of active cases are 7,496,451.

With the fresh tally in the 24-hour, 5,775 people died from coronavirus while 319,064 people have tested positive for COVID-19, and 252,059 patients have made fully recovery.

The US has reported 207,538 coronavirus deaths with 945 new fatalities and India  reported  92,317 daeths with 1,144 new fatalities in the 24-hour.

Among other coronavirus affected countries, Brazil reported 139,883 deaths, followed by Mexico with 75,439; UK 41,902, Italy 35,781; France 31,511; Iran 25,015; Russia 19,948; Indonesia 10,105; Canada 9,249; Iraq 8,799; Pakistan 6,444; Bangladesh 5,072;  Saudi Arabia 4,599; Australia 869 and UAE 407 respectively, worldometer reported.
