Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) set up the first-ever multipurpose smart lamp pole at Kakoli Bus Stand in the capital’s Banani on Monday to provide city residents with digital facilities.
DNCC mayor Atiqul Islam inaugurated the installation of the pole through video conferencing from DNCC Nagar Bhaban.The city corporation collaborated with edotco Bangladesh Co Ltd, an integrated telecommunications infrastructure services company, to install the lamp pole on pilot basis.
Speaking on the occasion, Atiqul Islam said, “As part of offering a smart city to the residents, DNCC has launched the multipurpose pole. The city residents will get different facilities, including Wi-Fi, smart bin, digital surveillance, air quality monitoring, through the smart pole.”
He also said the city corporation will provide more smart facilities for its dwellers. The facilities will include launching ‘Sobar Dhaka App’ and installment of digital LED light.
The city corporation will also install a command at Nagar Bhaban to monitor and ensure proper execution of the services provided for the citizens and to take necessary measures to address grievances.
