‘Rohingya robber’ killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

A suspected Rohingya robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police near Shalbagan Rihingya Camp area at Nhilla in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Sharif, 26, son of Md Salam, hailing from Shalbagan Rohingya camp of the upazila.

Confirming the news, Pradip Kumar Dash, officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf Police Station, said that two police members---sub-inspector Aziz and Amir Hossain--are also injured in the gunfight.

The law enforcers also recovered two locally made arms and 8 rounds of cartridges from the spot, he said.
