German-owned luxury car brand Bentley on Friday said it will axe around 1,000 jobs in the UK as the market weathers the coronavirus-induced downturn.

Bentley, a division of Volkswagen and employing 4,200 workers in Britain, said COVID-19 had been a "hastener" in its decision to cut almost one-quarter of its UK workforce, not the "cause".
