BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy provided a good number of women in Keraniganj with ‘Eid gift of 'saris’ on behalf of party chairperson Khaleda Zia amid the coronavirus 'lockdown'.
Gayeshwar’s daughter-in-law and BNP’s executive committee member Nipun Roy Chowdhury reached the gift among 2,200 women.Talking to UNB, Gayeshwar said he has been in coronatine for a long time due to the coronavirus prevalence. “I’ve sent saris in the name of Khaleda Zia for the women of my home constituency.”
He said the saris have been taken to the houses of women at different wards in Keraniganj with the help of local BNP leaders and activists.
The BNP leader said he also sent lungis for the poor men in Keraniganj.
Besides, he said, people were also given packets containing rice, salt, potato, oil, soap, powder milk and vermicelli.
Meanwhile, BNP and its associate bodies are also distributing Eid gifts among the poor at different parts of the country, including in the capital, ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated in Bangladesh either on Sunday or Monday subject to the sighting of the new moon of Shawwal month.
