The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple in Dhaka’s Swamibagh has been placed under lockdown since Saturday morning as 31 persons who stay there were found to be Covid-19 positive on Friday.

Confirming the news, officer-in-charge of Gendaria Police Station Saju Miah, said the temple was placed under lockdown following directives from the IEDCR.

The infected persons are in isolation inside the temple while no one from outside is being allowed to enter the temple premises, the OC said.

More than 100 people, including priests, officials and devotees, reside in the temple.

The Old Dhaka areas under the Gendaria Police Station have recorded 55 coronavirus cases so far with three deaths.
