A total of twenty three physicians among 42 health workers of Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital in the capital have been tested positive for Covid-19, media reports.
Brigadier General Kazi Md. Rashid un Nabi, Director of the hospital on Sunday night revealed this.Hospital authorities supposed that the coronavirus transmission among the doctors and health workers happened from a surgery patient who took treatment at the hospital hiding his coronavirus infection.
Rashid un Nabi said on Thursday 12 health personnel were teased positive for coronavirus while 10 found corona infected on Friday. Among them, 10 doctors of Surgery and Gynecology department and eight Nurses.
On Saturday samples of 69 personnel were tested and all resulted in ‘Negative’, he added.
“Today (Sunday), more 13 doctors and seven nurses were tested positive for Covid-19 and total 42 persons of the hospital so far infected with the virus, out of 42, 23 were doctors and one Ansar,” he stated.
He, however, said on Saturday of the last week, a patient admitted to the surgery department of the hospital. Those who were connected with the operation of that emergency patient became infected.
