Two patients escaped from Corona ward at Barishal medical

Two patients of Corona ward at Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital were escaped. Hospital authorities informed the matter on Wednesday evening.

After the patients’ escape, the hospital authority on Wednesday night made a written appeal for deploying police at the corona ward gate.

The patients might be run away on Monday and Tuesday, hospital authorities doubted.

According to the hospital sources, the escaped patients were identified as Nurul Islam, 65, of Changraprasad village in Bhola sadar upazila and Nadira Begum, 35, of Labongola village in Barguna sadar upazila.

Nurul Islam admitted to the hospital’s corona ward with fever, cough and throat soar at 3:10 pm on Saturday (April 4). Hospital authorities had not found him after 11:00 am on Tuesday.

On the other hand, Nadira Begum, with fever, throat soar and cough, admitted to the same ward at 1:44 pm on Sunday (April 5). She could not be found since Monday noon.

Confirming the matter, Bakir Hossain, director of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, said it was not sure when those two patients escaped. But, it was supposed that one of them may run away around Monday noon and other escaped on Tuesday morning.

Bakir further said, “We informed the matter to the district administration and higher police official. We also made written appeal to deploy police for guarding corona unit.”
