Police and local administration sent back at least 16 Rohingyas, including women, to their camp after they were rescued from Moheshkhali area in Cox’s Bazar and a Malaysia-bound trawler in the Bay of Bengal on Thursday.
Local administration and public representatives rescued 6 Rohingyas, including women, from Moheshkhali in the district Thursday night.Moheshkhali municipality mayor Moksud Mia found them in Gorokghata Bazar area and handed over them to Moheshkhali Police Station after rescuing them. Later, police sent them back to Rohingya camp in the district.
Meanwhile, a team of law enforcers, led by officer-in-charge of Moheshkhali Police Station Pradip Kumar Das, rescued 10 other Rohingya people from a fishing trawler headed for Malaysia near a Ghat area in the district.
Moheshkhali police conducted the drive after Moheshkhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer informed them that a group of Rohingya people were passing the area by a trawler.
Later, police sent them to Rohingya camp after rescuing them from the trawler.
