Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton today said Bangladesh is a glaring example of communal harmony and amity as people of all faiths have been living with peace and tranquility for long.
“People of all religions have also been celebrating their respective religious festivals with traditional enthusiasm and festivity freely,” he said this while laying foundation stone of an 18-storey Hindu Temple building at Reshampatti in the city as chief guest.
Chaired by ISKCON Principal Rameshwar Goura Das Brambhachary, the function was addressed, among others, by Vice-president of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad and Bagmara Upazila Chairman Anil Kumar Sarker and Prof Nirendra Nath Mustafi from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology .
Mayor Liton said the present government is very sincere and vigilant to uphold the dignity and equal rights of all people irrespective of religions and the country is now being widely considered as a unique example of communal harmony.
He urged people of all religions to further strengthen the existing fraternity and friendly bond with a view to ensuring national peace, progress and prosperity.
Large number of Hindu devotees both male, female and children joined the programme.
