Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Mainul Islam on Tuesday directed all the police units to take stern action against militants, terrorists and destroyers of communal harmony.
“Bangladesh is a bright example of communal harmony. The position of Bangladesh Police is very strict against those who try to destroy the harmony, regardless of their party affiliation,” he said.
“The police are determined to take immediate strict action against any person or group who spread the poison of communalism and create an unstable situation,” Mainul Islam said.
AIG (Media and PR) of Police Headquarters Enamul Haque Sagor shared this information with the mass media in a press release.
The IGP also said that the ATU, CTTC, SB, CID, RAB and district police are working to combat militancy and terrorism while the Police Headquarters is regularly monitoring the situation.
The specialised units of police force remain alert and vigilant so that militants and other criminals now on bail cannot commit crimes.
