The government has taken initiatives to set up University of Science and Technology at Bogura and Laxmipur.
The Cabinet approved in principle the draft of bills for establishing two science and technology universities in Laxmipur and Bogura districts on Monday.The titles of the bills are ‘Lakshmipur Science and Technology University Bill, 2020’ and ‘Bogura Science and Technology University Bill, 2020’.
The approval came at a regular meeting of the Cabinet at the Secretariat on Monday (Jan 26) with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, Senior Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam Briefing told the media after the meeting.
The locations for the new universities are yet to be selected, the Cabinet Secretary added.
So far, there are 44 public universities in the country and with these two universities the number will be stand at 46.
On the other hand, 105 private universities in the country among them 90 universities have been operating educational activities in the country.
