HC seeks updates of DIG prisons Partha’s case

The High Court on Wednesday sought updates of investigation in a corruption case against suspended deputy inspector general (prisons) of Sylhet division, Partha Gopal Banik.

The bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice AKM Zahirul Huq asked Anti-Corruption Commission to inform it on January 30 and fixed February for a hearing of a bail petition filed by Partha.

Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan represented the ACC while Barrister Shafique Ahmed and Advocate Qamrul Islam stood for Partha.

On July 28 this year, the Anti-Corruption Commission detained the DIG after recovering Tk 8 million from his residence in Dhaka.

On September 15, a Dhaka court rejected Partha’s bail petition in the case.
