Onion prices finally declining

The price of onions has started to decline fast in the market after the drive with the help of local administration.

In the wake of the skyrocketing onion prices, the government has strengthened nationwide drives against onion syndicate. It is known that law enforcers arrested a number of persons and fined many during drives.

On Monday (Nov18), local onion was selling from Tk 150 to Tk 160 per kg at Shyambazar wholesale market in the capital, onion imported from Myanmar was selling at Tk 150 per kg, and onion (big sized) brought from Egypt-Turkey was trading between Tk 100 to TK 120 per kg.

The price of onion (per kg) was reportedly declined at the wholesale outlet of Khatunganj in Chattogram.
