Two shot while buying onions from TCB truck in Sylhet

Two persons, including a woman, were allegedly shot by the law enforcers when they were purchasing onions at Tk 45 a kg from a truck of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) at Rikabi Bazar in Sylhet on Monday.

Several persons were also injured as the local people jostled and manhandled each other while buying the onions from the TCB truck.

A bullet-hit person was identified as Chandrakanta Singha, while the identity of the woman couldn’t be identified immediately.

Confirming this to media, Inspector (investigation) of Sylhet Sadar Police station Rita Akter said, “The incident took place in front of the Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium at Rikabi Bazar around 1:00 pm.”

During a jostling beside the TCB truck in the area, a misfire took place that left two people injured, she said.

Chandrakanta Singha was sent to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital as he sustained bullet injuries in his left hand.
