Around 1.5 million of electricity consumers in cyclone hit 23-Palli Biddut Samity are facing power outage till Monday evening as the grid power connectivity has been suspended for rescue operation, officials confirmed.
Around four million of electricity consumers of cyclone hit 23-Palli Biddut Samity were facing power outage on November 10 as the grid power connectivity has been suspended for renovation work.Of the affected Palli Biddut Samity’s, the power supply at two PBS in Basrisal, one PBS each at Patuakhali, Ferojpur and Bhandari are fully or partially suspended due to damage electric wires and poles, sources said.
Around 85,000 kilometers distribution lines with 950 poles, 75 transformers and conductors got disrupted at about 9000 places due to tree falling, official said.
“We have incurred loss at Tk 250 million due to damage the distribution lines and other materials,” BREB chairman Maj Gen (Retd) Moin Uddin told the daily sun this evening.
He said the REB has resumed electricity supply 70 percent areas.
“We are hopeful to complete the rest of the rescue operation by Tuesday,” he said.
