Chinese company to invest $19.97mn in BEPZA EZ

Chinese company SBS Zipper Bangladesh Co. Ltd. is going to invest $19.97 million to set up a garments accessories manufacturing industry in the BEPZA Economic Zone (BEPZA EZ).

Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) signed an agreement with the company to this effect at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka on Tuesday.

In the presence of BEPZA Executive Chairman Maj Gen Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, BSP Member (Investment Promotion) Ali Reza Mazid and CEO of SBS Zipper Bangladesh Co. Ltd. Weifang Shen signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.

The Chinese company will produce 271 million pcs of Metal Zipper, Nylon/Plastic Zipper, Slider/Chain/Zipper Parts/Tapes, Plastic Button, Button Parts and Mould annually where 2063 Bangladeshi nationals will get employment opportunities.  

BEPZA Executive Chairman thanked the SBS Zipper Bangladesh for choosing BEPZA EZ as their investment destination.

He assured them to provide all sorts of support to run the factory smoothly.

Member (Engineering) Mohammad Faruque Alam, Member (Finance) Md. Ashraful Kabir, Executive Director (Admin) A N M Foyzul Haque, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) Md. Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director (Enterprise Services) Md. Khorshid Alam and Executive Director (Public Relations) A.S.M Anwar Parvez and the representatives of the company, among others, were present during the deal signing function.

It may be pointed out that SBS Zipper Bangladesh is a subsidiary of SBS Zipper, one of the largest zipper manufacturers globally, ranking first in China and second in the world for zipper production.
