Dhaka University National Model United Nations (DUNMUN)- 2019 conference is going to take place at the campus from October 12 to 14.
Dhaka University Model United Nations Association (DUMUNA) Club organises the conference while prominent english daily of the country, Daily Sun is the media partner of the event.With the theme "Reducing global inequalities by bolstering trade development ", DUNMUN-2019 will be hosting 11 committees: United Nations Security Council (UNSC), World Trade Organization (WTO), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), The Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), The Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL), International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), The Economic and Financial Committee (ECOFIN), Specialized Committee for Bangladesh Affairs (SCBA) and International Press (IP).
About 500 students will confront each other debating issues of the international political agenda, with the participation of exceptional guests.
DUNMUN provides the platform for the students to collectively research, discuss and debate about topics of high importance and propose solutions for the same.
DU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman will be present as the chief guest while Zaki Uz Zaman, United Nations industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) representative of Bangladesh as the special guest on the opening ceremony of the three-day conference.
