ASI killed in Mymensingh road accident

A police official, who sustained injury in a road accident at Rupchandrapur area in Tarakanda upazila of Mymensingh on Monday noon, succumbed to his injury at National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitaion (NITOR) at night while undergoing treatment.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Hai, was an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Haluaghat Police Station.

His wife also injured in the accident.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Haluaghat police station Biplob Kumar Biswas said ASI Abdul Hai and his wife were going to Mymensingh town from Haluaghat riding on a motorcycle. However, when they reached Rupchandrapur area in Tarakanda upazila, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on with their motorcycle and they fell on the road. In the meantime, a trolley rammed them on the spot, leaving the husband and wife critically injured.

Later, local people rescued them and admitted to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital. But doctors of the hospital referred them to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation in Dhaka as their condition deteriorated. However, ASI Abdul Hai succumbed to her injuries last night while undergoing treatment, he said.
