A Barguna court on Friday placed Rishan Farazi, third accused in the Rifat Sharif murder case, on a five-day remand.
Senior judicial magistrate Mohammad Sirajul Islam Gazi passed the order when police produced him before the court in the murder case.Earlier, Md Humayun Kabir, inspector of Barguna sadar police station and the investigation officer of the case, sought seven days to interrogate Farazi in the case.
Police arrested Rishan Farazi, one of the main accused in the murder case, on Thursday. The main accused, Sabbir Ahmed alias Nayan Bond, was killed in a reported gunfight with police.
Rishan Farazi is the younger brother of another suspect in the same murder case, Rifat Farazi, who has also been arrested.
Rifat Sharif, 22, was hacked to death in broad daylight in front of his wife and scores of passers-by in the district town on 26 June. The incident was caught on surveillance cameras.
