Surrender or face stern action: Home minister to drug traders

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Monday said drug dealers, who will surrender responding to government’s call, will get opportunities to back normal life. Otherwise, stern action will be taken against them.

He came up with this remark while talking to journalists after attending an illegal narcotics destroying programme at Border Guard Bangladesh-6 (BGB) headquarters in Chuadanga.

Asaduzzaman Khan said, “The government has tightened security measures following the Sri Lanka blasts. Law enforcing agencies are working on this issue. We became successful in eradicating militancy in the past. There will be no room for militants in Bangladesh”.

Different types of illegal narcotics, seized by BGB from April 30, 2017 to April 12, 2019, were destroyed during the narcotics destroying programme.

BGB Director General Major General Shafeenul Islam, Additional Director General Brig Gen Ainul Morshed Khan Pathan, MP Solaiman Haque Joarder (Chuadanga-1), MP Ali Azgar Togor (Chuadanga-2), BGB director Emam Hasan, among others, were present at the programme.
