Bangladeshi short film wins award in Romania

A Bangladeshi short film titled ‘A Scribble Story’ has won The Best Experimental Film title at the Twelve Months Film Festival of Romania recently.  

The twelve-month film festival of Romania is a well-known platform for sharing films in Europe for appreciated heterogeneous filmmakers all over the world.  This festival is organised in Cluj-Napoca, with the aim of promoting and displaying unconventional films.

According to the rules of the festival, the jury finally made the final list of 57 films for the January edition of this year.   Bangladeshi film ‘A Scribble Story’ was also included in the list. On 4th January, the jury has announced the winner of the festival of 12MFF. The names of the awards are declared in 17 categories. 

The Bangladeshi filmmaker has made it to the shortest list of the category of experimental films.

Faridul Ahasan Sourav, director of the Experimental Manor film, said, “A Scribble Story is a 10 minute long film, originally a storytelling experiment.” He said that the experiment of this movie is not only about the visualization of the story, but it is about sharing the told-untold stories of daily life.

The shooting of ‘A Scribble Story’ has been lasted for four months and took place at different spots of Dhaka. Sahela Akter Umama, Rehnuma Antika, Nusrat Nowrin, Shuvo Dutta, Mahnoor Tabassum Meem, Zamim Hossain Chowdhury and Muzaddid Al Arifin did the cinematography.  Solika Akter and Nivedita Alice have worked as vocals in the film.
