Seven other federations get ad hoc committees

The National Sports Council (NSC) formed ad hoc committees for seven other federations – swimming, volleyball, karate, fencing, weightlifting, table tennis and bodybuilding – after dissolving their existing committees on Tuesday.
Swimming got a 19-member committee with Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan as its president and former swimming general secretary and player Mahbubur Rahman Shahin as new GS. Volleyball got a 19-member committee with Giant Group director Faruque Hassan as its president and former national volleyball team captain Bimal Ghosh Bhulu as general secretary.
Karate got a 19-member committee with former player and Industrialist of Asiatic Cotton Mills and Refinery Shahzada Alam as president and former player, coach and organizer Md Moazzem Hossain as general secretary.
Fencing also got a 19-member committee with freedom fighter, industrialist and Asia Group managing director Kamrul Islam as president and Basunia M Ashiqul Islam as general secretary.
Weightlifting got a 17-member committee with its new president Wing Commander Mohiuddin Ahmed (retd.) and general secretary Lieutenant Colonel Md Shahidul Islam Chowdhury.
Both of them are former athletes, coaches and organisers.
Table tennis got a 17-member committee with Micro Fibre Group managing director Engineer MH Zaman as its president and former player and coach AM Maksud Ahmed Biman as general secretary. Bodybuilding also got a 17-member committee with chief of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Additional Inspector General (AIG) Md Mustafa Kamal as president and former sportsman Dr M Kamruzzaman as general secretary.
NSC earlier announced ad hoc committees for the country’s nine sports federations after dissolving their executive committees. The federations were hockey, athletics, chess, kabaddi, basketball, tennis, squash, bridge and billiards, and snooker.
