Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam said on Wednesday that poets, journalists and cultural personalities who were part of fascism or incited genocide will also be brought to justice.
He made this comment in response to a question from journalists after exchanging views with the newly elected committee members of the Film Censorship Board and the Jury Board at the secretariat.
When asked about the murder case against journalists, Nahid Islam said that the cases are not being filed by the government. People are filing cases and personal enmity is also behind the cases.
He said, “We have given instructions and assured that these cases will be reviewed and investigated at the earliest. If the allegations are not proved, the case will be dismissed.”
He also said, “I have already sat with the journalists’ forums. I assured them and told them to send details to the Ministry of Information if there is any such complaint against journalists or if there is a matter of being harmed. We will look into the matter.”

Responding to a question about giving magisterial powers to the army, the adviser said, “The law and order situation is gradually improving. In order to fix the law and order situation in a quick time and to ensure public safety, as we are in an emergency situation and the country is being reconstructed, the army has been given this power. This power has been given for the next two months.”
“During this period, the police will be completely reformed and brought back into the field stronger and more confident. That is why such a decision has been taken,” he added.
When asked about the Information Ministry's rumour cell, Nahid said, “We are discussing with various parties and media about strengthening fact-checking and exploring ways to improve it.”
