BNP leaders demand release of Khaleda
Govt lies about treaties with India, alleges Fakhrul

Holding rallies in metropolitan cities across the country, major opposition BNP leaders on Monday demanded the immediate and unconditional release of the party chairperson, Khaleda Zia.
They also criticised the current Awami League government for signing treaties and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with neighbouring India during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s recent visit.
BNP central leaders attended rallies in Narayanganj, Gazipur, Cumilla, Khulna, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Barishal, and Mymensingh city corporations.
The party postponed its rally in Chattogram city due to inclement weather. BNP’s Chattogram south and north city units were scheduled to arrange the rally in the afternoon in front of the party’s Nasimon Bhaban office in the Kazir Dewri area in the port city.
BNP’s Chattogram Divisional Organising Secretary Mahbubur Rahman Shamim said the rally has now been rescheduled for 7 July.
Earlier on Wednesday, the BNP announced a three-day nationwide programme demanding the unconditional release of Khaleda Zia who is currently undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital.
As part of these programmes, the BNP arranged a huge rally in front of its Nayapaltan central office on Saturday. The party is also scheduled to hold rallies in all district headquarters on tomorrow.
Earlier, Mirza Fakhrul, along with the new office bearers of the Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, paid homage to Zia by placing wreaths at his grave.
Speaking at a rally in Rathkhola in Gazipur city on Monday, BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas demanded immediate unconditional release of Khaleda Zia.
