Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Utsab, one of the biggest events in the country on the work of Rabindranath Tagore, has ended with a call to share the Bengali polymath’s philosophy of creating a non-communal society.
Social Affairs Minister Dipu Moni was the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the three-day festival at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital on Saturday.
Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Songstha (BRSS) has organised the 35th edition of the festival on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Tagore.

The 35th festival edition is dedicated to the recently deceased famous singer Sadi Mohammad, according to the organiser.
The minister also performed group songs along with the participants.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, we are moving forward economically and technologically. At the same time, we see a form of fundamentalism emerging in various places; a much more cultural revival is needed,” said Dipu Moni.

Noted Rabindra exponent Kalim Sharafi founded the organisation. BRSS Executive President Ameenah Ahmed, President Tapan Mahmud, and Secretary General Pijush Barua have extended their support to the organising team.
BRSS General Secretary Pijush Barua said the festival has become an integral part of Shilpi Songstha since it was established in 1988.
Around three hundred artists from different cultural platforms in Dhaka, Chattogram, Sherpur, Faridpur, Jashore, and Sylhet performed in different sessions. Singers of Sangeet Bhaban, Shurer Dhara, BAFA, Boitalik, Bishwabina, Robiraag, and Shurotirtho performed group songs, while artists of Nrittanchal performed dance to Tagore music.
