The ruling Awami League (AL) will celebrate its platinum jubilee on 23 June with great enthusiasm. The programme will be held for three days where the BNP and other political parties will be invited to join it.
AL General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader announced this at a press conference held after a meeting of the party’s secretaries at AL President’s Dhanmondi political office in the capital on Monday.

Stating that the AL’s 75th founding anniversary will be celebrated for three days, Obaidul Quader said, “We shall celebrate the party’s platinum jubilee with great enthusiasm on 23 June. We are thinking of doing it extensively. We have decided to do it at thana, upazila and union levels. A discussion meeting will be held at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan on that day. Party leader and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address the meeting. We shall invite the party leaders at grassroots level and intellectuals.  A cultural programme will also be held before the discussion meeting.”

Quader also said that Awami League regularly invites the political parties, including the BNP, on the occasion of the party’s great events. Meanwhile, AL has decided to observe the Homecoming Day of Sheikh Hasina at upazila level this year.
