A college student was killed after being hit by a train in the Biswaspara area of the district town on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Jihan, 18, son of Syed Sujan, a resident of the Biswaspara area of the district town. He was a second-year student at TMSS Technical College in the Parulia area of the district.

The accident occurred when Jihan was playing a free-fire game on his mobile phone while sitting on the railway line near his house after eating Shihri. Around 4:30am, a Chilahati-bound express train hit him, leaving him seriously injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Santahar Railway Police Station Moktar Hossain said.
He was taken to Joypurhat General Hospital, the OC said.
Later, he was shifted to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital for better treatment, where he died around 10:30am while undergoing treatment, the OC added.
