Prime Bank VS Brothers Union
The match started nearly one hour after the scheduled time after the umpires and the match officials failed to reach the match venue in regular time due to heavy traffic jam.
Prime Bank skipper Tamim Iqbal also failed to arrive at the venue in due time because of the same reason and it prompted them to open the innings with Parvez and Shahadat, who put up a massive 246-run stand in the 49-over contest after they were sent into bat first.
Shahadat struck 119 off 111 balls with 10 fours and four sixes while Parvez made 151 off 129 balls with nine fours and eight sixes before both were dismissed by pacer Abu Jayed Rahi (3-70).
Tamim, who batted at number three, could only make 16 runs but Mahedi Hasan struck a quick-fire unbeaten 45 off 17 balls to power Prime Bank to a colossal total of 380-4.
Prime Bank spinner Nazmul Islam Apu and Sunzamul Islam then took three wickets each to restrict Brothers to 215-9 in their stipulated overs to complete their second successive win in the tournament.
Brothers opener Abdul Mazid made the highest 56 off 76 balls.
Abahani VS Gazi Tyres
Sabbir Hossain, who made a brilliant 71-run against Partex Sporting Club in the tournament opener, missed out on his hundred by just two runs during his 80-ball innings consisting of 10 fours and four sixes while Jaker Ali Anik and Mahmudul Hasan Joy also made 76 not out and 73 runs respectively to help Abahani post 343-7 after they were sent into bat first.
Abahani skipper Mosaddek Hossain (3-19) and pacer Khaled Ahmed (3-23) then shared six wickets between them to restrict Gazi Tyres to 163-9 after the latter got a revised target of 310 runs in 40 overs due to rain.
Gazi Tyres skipper Tahjibul Islam remained not out on 58 off 77 balls.
Shinepukur VS Sheikh Jamal
Shinepukur pulled off the first upset in the tournament when they beat last year’s runners-up Sheikh Jamal in their second game at the BKSP-3.
Despite fifties from Nurul Hasan Sohan (80) and Shykat Ali (56), Sheikh Jamal could score only 237-7 in their stipulated 47 overs after Shinepukur opted to field first.
Jawad Royen took 3-37 while Robiul Haque claimed two wickets for Shinepukur.
Khalid Hasan (66), Marshall Ayub (57) and Akbar Ali (62 not out) then scored fifties to guide Shinepukur to 238-4 in 44.5 overs to clinch their first win in the tournament.
