Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, labour wing of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), will hold demonstration in the capital today in protest at load shedding, hike in prices of essential commodities and repression of working people.
The programme also means to realise the BNP’s 10-point demand, including resignation of the government and release of the party’s Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
As per the announcement, Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal will hold a rally and bring out procession in front of the BNP central office in the capital’s Nayapaltan area at 2:30pm.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will attend the programme as the chief guest.
The party staged sit-ins at district level across the country, including Dhaka, on Thursday as a protest against power outage and alleged corruption in the power sector during the current regime.
Meanwhile, speaking at a discussion in the capital on Thursday, Mirza Fakhrul alleged that Awami League leaders are trying to mislead people through their contradictory comments on political talks about the next general election.
“Three leaders of Awami League spoke about dialogue in three ways. As people have become angry over the power crisis, they are creating another issue to divert their attention,” he said.
The BNP secretary general also said Awami League leaders are trying to divert people’s attention away from their demand for a non-party caretaker government.
