Death Threat to PM

BNP leader Chand put on remand

A court here on Wednesday placed BNP Rajshahi district unit convenor Abu Sayeed Chand on two-day remand in a case lodged for making threat to the life of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, reports BSS.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibul Haque passed the order after he was shown arrested in the case lodged under the Anti-Terrorism Act with the capital’s Chawkbazar Police Station.

Ashikur Rahman Anu, a leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League, filed the case on May 25. Police on May 28 pleaded to show Chand arrested in the case and place him on 10-day remand. The court on that day had set today for holding hearing on the matter.

The BNP leader in a rally on Shibpur High School premises in Puthia, Rajshahi, on May 19, publicly made the death threat to Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina.
