Opposition BNP will hold a public rally in the capital today in protest against what they have alleged the filing of false cases against them and the arrest in ghost cases.
The protest rally is also meant for realising their 10-point demands, including resignation of the current Awami League-led government, holding of the next national election under a caretaker government and permanent release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
BNP senior leaders, including secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, will address the rally.
The embattled party has taken preparations for a huge participation of its leaders and activists in the programme, party sources said.
Mirza Fakhrul is likely to announce the next protest programmes from the rally, as part of their all-out movement to realise their demands, the sources added.
The BNP secretary general held a joint meeting with the leaders of the party’s Dhaka north and south city units and the front organisations on Thursday and asked them to ensure huge presence of their leaders and activists at the rally from all wards.
BNP leaders said the party is going to start the first phase of their final anti-government movement with Saturday's rally as nationwide programmes like rallies in 82 organisational districts will be announced in the programme.
As part of the plan, the party will hold Dhaka siege programme after revamping the party men across the country.
On Wednesday, Tarique also had another meeting with organisational secretaries of the party virtually and asked them to prepare for the final phase of the movement.
