Another case has been filed against notorious cyber criminals and rapists Mostafizur Rahman alias Tito Rahman and Nazmus Saquib in Rangpur for spreading rumours about the government, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her family members and other renowned personalities.
Sheikh Asif Hossain, general secretary of Rangpur city unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, lodged the case with the Rangpur Cyber Tribunal on Monday, said Ruhul Amin Talukder who represented the state during hearing.
It was the second case filed against them in Rangpur in two days as Tushar Kanti Mondal, former general secretary of Rangpur city Awami League, sued them with the same tribunal on Sunday.
In his case, Asif brought the charges of spreading rumours about the government, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her family members, important ministers and central leaders of the ruling party and top businessmen of the country.
Judge Dr Abdul Mazid of the tribunal took cognisance of the complaint and directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to submit a report after investigating it.
“Taking cognisance of the complaint, the cyber tribunal ordered the PBI to investigate it. Sheikh Arif Hossain filed the case for spreading lies about the prime minister, her family members and Awami League stalwarts and distorting the name of BCL,” Ruhul said.
It is learnt that accused Tito Rahman, son of late Matiur Rahman of the capital’s Jigatola area, resides in Canada. He introduces himself as the chief executive officer of YouTube channel named Nagorik TV.
According to case statement, co-accused Ibrahim Ali is husband of the sister-in-law of Tito Rahman while Anis is brother-in-law of Nazmus Saquib.
The accused are involved in rampant spread of rumours, offensive, ugly, false, fabricated, misleading and anti-state information against Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her son Sajib Wazed Joy using various social media and online platforms, including YouTube.
They are not only spreading lies against the prime minister and her family but also against her relatives, various senior leaders of Awami League and its associate bodies. They constantly spread rumours even about the country's top business personalities.
Tito Rahman and Nazmus Saquib had left the country after being implicated in rape and fraud cases.
Later, they got involved in the anti-nation conspiracy. They started online spread of rumours about the state, Bangabandhu, prime minister and other important personalities of the country.
Tito Rahman's entire family was against the Liberation War. His grandfather was a 71-year-old assassin while his father was a swindler. And Tito Rahman has been aligned closely with people linked to BNP-Jamaat since childhood.
Apart from political identity, he was known as a drug addict and oppressor of women in Dinajpur. Tito Rahman was punished for eve-teasing. And lastly, while studying at Dinajpur University College, a student accused him of committing rape.
Tito Rahman’s cohort Nazmus Saquib was accused of raping a five-year-old child in Sabujbagh area of the capital in 2011. A case was lodged against him with Sabujbagh Police Station in this regard.
According to the case statement, the child used to live with her family in a shanty at 28 Mayakanan of Sabujbagh. Her father used to run a CNG-run auto-rickshaw to earn a living.
On the fateful day in 2011, Nazmus Saquib, a drug addict, lured the little girl into going to his residence at 28 Mayakanan after offering her chocolates. Then he took her to the rooftop of the building and raped her several times.
At one stage, he left the child in the garage on the ground floor when she was bleeding profusely. Then Bachchu Mia, the caretaker of the house, came forward after hearing the child's screaming. Seeing the pathetic condition of the child, locals gathered around the house and the victim narrated the brutality that she endured. Afterwards, the victim became speech impaired due to trauma of the brutality.
Talking to journalists, Arif Hossain said the accused are spreading lies about the prime minister, country and nation and scandalising BCL to damage longstanding reputation of the student wing of the ruling Awami League.
“The accused want to destroy the democratic system of the country. So, I filed the case to bring them to book. I demand immediate arrest of the accused,” he added.
On Sunday, former General Secretary of Rangpur city Awami League Tushar Kanti Mondal filed a similar case against the accused.
“I filed the case against four people for creating militancy and damaging the image of the country by insulting the prime minister and her family. I want them to be arrested and brought to justice as soon as possible.”
