Reigning champions BCB Central Zone will be looking to retain their title when they take on BCB South Zone in the final of the Bangladesh Cricket League 2022-23 at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar today.
Last year, Central Zone clinched their third BCL title, a four-day franchise-based domestic four-day tournament, by beating the same opponents in the final which ended South Zone’s three successive tournament-winning run.
However, South Zone will have a slight advantage over Central Zone before going into the match as they beat the same opponents by 110 runs in the last round match at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura last week.
South Zone have been the most successful franchise in the BCL history having won the tournament five times out of the previous nine editions and they will be looking to regain their championship title in the 10th edition final.
Central Zone batsman Jaker Ali has been the most consistent performer in the tournament as he scored 416 runs in four innings at an average of 138.66 – the highest by any batsman in the competition while South Zone’s Fazle Mahmud made the third-highest 276 runs.
Central Zone’s Abu Hider and Musfik Hasan are the leading bowlers of the tournament after they claimed 16 and 15 wickets respectively while Nazmul Islam and Sumon Khan are not very far away as they took 13 and 11 wickets respectively.
