Eight military representatives from seven countries have paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara of Gopalganj.
The delegation led by the Director General (DG) of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) Maj Gen Hamidul Haque paid their tributes by placing a wreath at the mazar of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Sunday afternoon.
The military delegation includes Lt Col John Dempsey of Australia, Brigadier Manmeet Singh Sabarwal of India, Squadron Leader Abhutosh Sharma of India, Brig Gen Soe Nyunt of Myanmar, Brigadier Roshan Shumsher Rana of Nepal, Brigadier Ali Ejaz Rafi of Pakistan, Colonel Mahmoud MJ Sharawnah of Palestine and Colonel Erdal Sahin of Turkey.
At this time, the wives and children of the members of the military delegation paid their respects separately at the mazar of Father of the Nation.
Later, the members of the delegation visited Bangabandhu’s mausoleum complex and left for Bagerhat.
Besides, senior officials of DGFI, district administration, police administration and local political leaders were present.
DGFI DG Maj Gen Hamidul Haque said as part of the annual travel programme with the military representatives, they came to pay their respects at the tomb of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bengali and father of the nation. After paying homage, the military team left for the tour of Bagerhat Sat Gambuj Mosque and Sundarbans.
